Frequently Asked Questions
What is a CapCASE and how is it different from a traditional camera case?
CapCASE is a fitted camera case system built around a magnetic cap closure secured by rare-earth Neodymium magnets hidden in the binding. Unlike traditional camera cubes that use dividers and are filled with gear, CapCASEs are sized for specific camera equipment and designed to nest together like packing cubes for travel and everyday use. Flip the cap and you're in instantly, while the zipper seals the case for secure, sealed transport when you're moving.
What are the two versions of CapCASE?
CapCASE comes in PRO (semi-rigid, built for bodies and heavier glass) and GO (soft-sided, better for lighter kits and tighter configurations).
How does CapCASE attach inside an Atlas ONE pack?
Inside any Atlas ONE pack, CapCASE anchors directly to the Velex infinite loop lining, so you can place it wherever suits your kit and it stays put. The DAY and GETAWAY each have their own footprint-sized CapCASE built for their clamshell cores, and both of those sizes also fit inside MISSION, so MISSION owners can choose whichever footprint suits how much of the interior they want dedicated to camera storage. CapCASE uses rare-earth Neodymium N50 magnets hidden inside the case binding for the magnetic lid closure, so keep it at least 6 inches (15cm) away from pacemakers and other medical devices.
Which CapCASE fits a compact mirrorless body or a single prime lens?
The Smuggler, at 10 by 3.5 by 3.7 inches (25.5 by 9 by 9.5cm) plus a 1in (2.5cm) lid, is long and narrow, built for a compact mirrorless body without a lens attached, or a single prime lens stored separately. Available in PRO.
Which CapCASE fits a 70-200mm lens or a body with a lens attached?
The 70-200 CapCASE, at 9.8 by 4.9 by 3.3 inches (25 by 12.5 by 8.5cm) plus a 1in (2.5cm) lid, is built around that lens family and comparably sized glass, available in PRO and GO. The Body + Lens CapCASE, at 11.2 by 5.9 by 3.7 inches (28.5 by 15 by 9.5cm) plus a 1in (2.5cm) lid, is sized for a body with a 70-200-size lens attached, the most common shooting configuration, also available in PRO and GO.
Are there CapCASEs for drones or top-loading access?
Yes. The DJI Mini w/ Lash CapCASE, at 5.7 by 10.4 by 3.5 inches (14.5 by 26.5 by 9cm) plus a 1in (2.5cm) lid, is portrait-oriented with integrated lash bungees built specifically around the DJI Mini footprint. The Top Load CapCASE, at 7.4 by 5.9 by 9.1 inches (18.8 by 15 by 23cm) plus a 1in (2.5cm) lid, is the deepest case in the lineup, built for dropping a camera in from above rather than accessing from the side. DJI Mini w/ Lash is available in PRO, Top Load in GO.
Which CapCASE is sized for the DAY or GETAWAY pack specifically?
The DAY-sized CapCASE, at 11.8 by 9.8 by 2.8 inches (30 by 25 by 7cm) plus a 1in (2.5cm) lid, converts the DAY's clamshell core into a dedicated camera bay. The GETAWAY-sized CapCASE, at 13.8 by 9.8 by 4.7 inches (35 by 25 by 12cm) plus a 1in (2.5cm) lid, is built for the GETAWAY's deeper clamshell, with extra depth for larger body-and-lens combinations. Both are available in PRO and GO, and both also fit inside the MISSION pack.
Which CapCASE is built for big glass and super-telephoto lenses?
The 200-600 CapCASE, at 15.9 by 5.1 by 3.9 inches (40.5 by 13 by 10cm) plus a 1in (2.5cm) lid, is built for the 200-600mm super-telephoto family, available in PRO. The Backfields and Big Glass CapCASEs go even larger, at 16.9 by 4.9 by 4.3 inches (43 by 12.5 by 11cm) and 18.7 by 6.5 by 4.7 inches (47.5 by 16.5 by 12cm) respectively, for larger telephoto configurations and the biggest lenses in the lineup.
Can multiple CapCASEs be used together in one pack?
Yes. CapCASEs are designed to nest together like packing cubes, making it easy to mix sizes, a body-and-lens case alongside a Gear Box for accessories, for example, within the same pack.
