First, what's up with the versioning, why GEN2a vs. GEN3?
That's a great question. At Atlas we define our versions based on the camera gear they carry, not the updates we make. In 2021 we released the GEN2 Athlete Packs to address the size and weight of full frame mirrorless camera gear, the same gear we all use today!
Said another way, the GEN2 and GEN2a Athlete Packs are fundamentally the same product just make from different fabrics. The yellow, gray and black fabrics no longer exist. Today there are new blends that provide for better water protection and are made from recycled waste and can be recycled again.
If you currently have an Atlas Athlete or Adventure Pack and would like to trade-in for the new Atlas ONE or Athlete GEN2a, we are working on a new trade-in program. Stay tuned.

1. Cut a piece of string 18"/45.5cm
2. Hold the top to your C7 vertebrae and drop the bottom end.
3. Now feel all the way down to where string ends. It will fall either above or below your Iliac Center (essentially your love handles and where you rest your hands when you are putting your hands on your hips).

PS: If the string goes past your love handles, that means your torso is
shorter than 18" = medium size pack. If the string ends before your love handles, that means your torso longer than 18" = large size pack.

Frequently Asked QuestionsIn the past Atlas bulk production required ordering lab-dipped fabrics in a limited number of colorways on account of the large MOQ.
All of the fabrics I used in the past were have been made into packs and so I have to start over and re-order thousands of yards in limited colorways - which drives up costs significantly.
Today there are new suppliers with ready made stock available to ship globally with short lead times and small MOQ's. While these fabrics cost more per yard they cost a lot less to carry. There are also deals to be had on excess stock (already at the factor but no longer needed) as well as premium recycled fabrics made with waterproof backings free from PFAS.
If you asked your customers to share one thing they love about your brand or product and they say "quality" you know you've done a lot of things right.
The quality and construction of the Atlas ONE will be akin to that of the Athlete and Adventure. These are camera bags first and this requires a different type of construction and design.
