LEARN ABOUT OUR PACKS

The thing that makes packs so special and this is important when comparing all packs to all bags, is that packs can expand and compress down, bags do not. When shopping for camera bags, you are selected a fixed liter based on how many liters you need for camera gear only. When it comes to camera backpacking you need space for both camera and non-camera / hiking gear and Atlas Packs are specifically designed to fit and lift all this weight off your shoulders and load your hips.

PICK YOUR PACK

Finding the right size is a snap! Choose based on height or torso length for best results.

MEDIUM OR LARGE FRAME

Atlas Packs is the only company that offers custom fitting. Choose the pack size (medium or large) based on your measurements.

Finding the right fit is super easy, just check the fitting chart below. Sizing is the same for both packs with 18" / 45.5cm as the split between the medium and large size packs.

  • START WITH HEIGHT

While torso fitting is best, it's easiest to start with height. This method works 86% of the time.

    -----
+ If you are 5’10/ 1.75m or below, the medium size pack typically fits best.

+ If you are taller than 5’11/1.8m the large size pack typically fits best.

    -----
Between sizes, check your torso length...

  • OR USE TORSO LENGTH

Torso length provides the most accurate measurement for backpack fitting.

    -----
+ If your torso length is shorter than 18" / 45.5cm, the medium size pack typically fits best.

+ If your torso length is longer than 18"/45.5cm the large size pack typically fits best.

  • HOW TO MEASURE

    1. Cut a piece of string 18"/45.5cm
    2. Hold the top to your C7 vertebrae.
    3. Drop the end and measure if the sting falls above or below your love handles.

    THE ANSWER >>

If the string goes past your love handles, that means your torso is
shorter than 18" and you should get the medium size pack. If the string ends before your love handles, that means your torso longer than 18" and you should get the large size pack

PICK YOUR PARTS

Our secret sauce, a proper hiking hip belt that loads the weight away from your shoulders and onto your hips.

ADD YOUR HIP BELT

When it comes to hip belts, the most import part is to make sure the padding is long enough to well cover the front of your hips. If the padding falls short, then the weight of the pack will not properly transfer away from your shoulders and load on to your hips.

Sizing for Travelers and Athlete belts are the same. Sizing for the Adventure belt is a little different.

  • TRAVELERS STYLE HIP BELT

The Travel Hip Belt (also known as the Haenisch Hip Belt) has no padding, just a soft wrap with 38mm buckle and webbing. The Travel Hip Belt can be your hip belt of choice and comes comes with a Fidlock magnetic buckle in addition to the standard YKK buckle if selected.

  • ATHLETE STYLE HIP BELT

The Athlete Hip Belt offers a slimmer profile with a single layer of foam ding with 25mm buckle and narrower webbing. This belt offers a more "minimalist" look and feel in comparison to the Adventure Hip Belt. Available in S/M-XL sizes.

  • ADVENTURE STYLE HIP BELT

The Adventure Hip Belt-our thickest padded belt offering two layers of
foam padding and a wider webbing and buckle. Most comfortable for heavier loads or longer hikes. The Adventure Hip Belt construction includes dual layers of foam padding with 38mm buckle and webbing. Works best with heavy load outs. Available in S/M - XL/XXL sizes.
