Atlas Packs x Quick Connect Hip Belt Collaboration – AtlasPacks

Got a question. We respond to all messages in 24hrs.

HOW IT WORKS

We’re thrilled to unveil the Atlas Packs x Leofoto Hip Belt Quick Connect collaboration—a groundbreaking system designed to revolutionize how photographers carry and access their camera gear. Traditional QD (Quick Detach) systems with push pin mechanisms are often integrated into shoulder straps, which can leave you with cumbersome straps dangling even after you’ve released your camera. These systems also place the weight on your shoulders, leading to discomfort and fatigue over time.

Our innovative design eliminates the bulk and limitations of shoulder straps by utilizing a 1” piece of webbing connected to a lightweight, durable MOLLE clip system. This system integrates seamlessly into the MOLLE webbing on the Atlas Packs hip belt, shifting the load to your hips. This allows for superior weight distribution, effectively eliminating shoulder strain and significantly enhancing your hands-free shooting experience. This setup ensures that there are no straps in the way, providing a clearer, more efficient shooting environment.

Perfect for photographers on the move, this collaboration is focused on improving comfort, control, and workflow, making it easier than ever to capture the perfect shot. Here’s why this game-changing camera gear is a must-have for any photographer looking to elevate their craft.

LIST OF BENEFITS OF ATLAS xQD HIP BELT CLIP SYSTEM

Atlas Packs x QD Hip Belt System x Leofoto

What are Quick Detach (QD) Systems?

Quick Detach (QD) systems use a push pin / socket mechanism designed for rapid attachment and detachment of equipment. In photography, QD systems are used for securing camera straps, tripod attachments, and other accessories and allow gear to be quickly inserted or removed with minimal effort.

QD systems are already super popular in camera straps. They allow photographers to quickly remove or switch straps without the need for cumbersome adjustments. This is especially useful for photographers who need to adapt quickly between different shooting setups or carry multiple cameras.

Until now, QD systems have only been available connect to neck straps. These methods result a mess of straps and sore shoulders and back.

Atlas Packs is the first and only company to offer a hip belt QD system as part of our xCOLLAB product line in collaboration with Leofotot.

Using the Atlas xQD clips on a hip belt offers significant advantages in terms of accessibility, comfort, and stability compared to shoulder strap QD clips. The hip-mounted system reduces interference, distributes weight more effectively, and allows for quicker, more efficient camera handling, making it a superior option for photographers who prioritize mobility and ease of use.

Better Quick Ready Position

Atlas xQD Hip Belt Clips:
+Advantage: The camera can be quickly detached and accessed without any additional straps getting in the way. The gear is immediately ready for use because there’s no need to deal with straps that might obstruct movement.
+Benefit: This setup is ideal for fast-paced photography where quick access to the camera is crucial, such as in wildlife or sports photography.

Traditional Shoulder Strap QD System :
+Disadvantage: Even after detaching the camera, the shoulder straps remain attached, which can interfere with your movement or get in the way of the camera’s operation.
+Drawback: This can slow down the shooting process and lead to frustration, especially in situations requiring swift action.

Freedom from Strap Interference

Atlas xQD Hip Belt Clips:
+Advantage
: Once the camera is detached, there are no dangling straps to contend with. The hands and body are free from obstruction, making it easier to maneuver the camera and take shots from various angles.
+Benefit: This reduces the chances of missing a shot due to entangled or obstructive straps and increases overall shooting efficiency.

Traditional Shoulder Strap QD System:
+Disadvantage
: Straps can hang loose and get in the way after the camera is detached, potentially obstructing the viewfinder, lens, or controls.
+Drawback: This can be particularly problematic in situations requiring precise framing or quick adjustments.

Better Weight Distribution and Comfort

Atlas xQD Hip Belt Clips:
+Advantage
: The weight of the camera gear is distributed across the hips, which are better suited for carrying heavy loads. This reduces strain on the neck and shoulders.
+Benefit: Photographers can shoot for longer periods without experiencing fatigue, discomfort, or pain, making it a more ergonomic option for extended use.

Traditional Shoulder Strap QD System:
+ Disadvantage
: The weight is concentrated on the shoulders, leading to increased strain on the neck and upper back. This can cause discomfort and fatigue, especially with heavier camera setups.
+Drawback: Over time, this can lead to poor posture, muscle soreness, and even long-term injury, making it less suitable for prolonged use.

True Hands-Free Operation

Atlas xQD Hip Belt Clips:
+Advantage
: Both hands are free to operate the camera or handle other tasks, and the gear remains secure and accessible on the hips.
+Benefit: This setup is particularly useful for situations where you need to be mobile and have quick access to your camera without it swinging around or getting in the way.

Shoulder Strap QD Clips:
+Disadvantage: While hands-free operation is still possible, the camera can swing and move more unpredictably when attached to shoulder straps, potentially causing instability.
+Drawback: This can be inconvenient when navigating through crowded areas or when you need to move quickly, as the camera may bump into objects or people.

Excellent Stability and Balance

Atlas xQD Hip Belt Clips:
+Advantage: The camera gear is positioned lower on the body, contributing to a more stable center of gravity and better overall balance. This is especially beneficial when moving or hiking.
+Benefit: Improved stability reduces the likelihood of accidental drops or damage to the camera gear and enhances the photographer’s mobility in challenging terrains.

Shoulder Strap QD Clips:
+Disadvantage: The camera’s higher position on the body can affect balance, especially when moving quickly or navigating uneven surfaces.
+Drawback
: This can make the photographer feel less stable and increase the risk of tripping or losing balance, particularly with heavier gear.

When it comes to carrying camera gear, the choice of attachment method can significantly impact a photographer’s efficiency, comfort, and overall shooting experience. While traditional shoulder straps have long been the go-to option, the advent of Quick Detach (QD) clips on hip belts presents a compelling alternative.

By relocating the weight of the gear to the hips, this method offers a more ergonomic solution that enhances accessibility, reduces fatigue, and eliminates the common frustrations associated with shoulder-mounted setups. In this comparison, we explore the distinct advantages of using QD clips on a hip belt versus shoulder straps, highlighting why this innovative approach is becoming the preferred choice for photographers who demand both mobility and performance.

This collaboration combines the Atlas Packs Adventure hip belt with the Leofoto Quick Connect system. Now you can easily connect and carry heavy camera gear without shoulder and neck pain. It's safer, more secure and let's you change lenses super quickly.
