DESIGN AND FEATURE
A little bit of background | When we first released the Athlete Pack, production was very small, limited to just 300 units and they were not sold to the public or available online.

HIP BELT SIZE CHART
Finding the right size is easy. Checkout the fitting chart and follow the steps. The most important measurement is to make sure the padding is long enough to cover your hips. If the padding falls short, then the weight of the pack will not properly transfer away from your shoulders and load on to your hips.
A hiking hip belt of choice is included with the purchase of your pack.
-
The Adventure Hip Belt
The Adventure Hip Belt is designed for heavier loads and includes a thick dual-layer of foam with a mesh outer span designed to grip and hold tight while providing for the utmost in comfort. This belt is best if you are super skinny without much in the way of layers OR if you have lots of love around your handles. The contour and shape of the belt means you can rest a lot of weight without having to squeeze super tight. If you're looking for a hip belt that can handle heavier loads, the Adventure Hip Belt is perfect for you. It features a thick dual-layer of foam with a mesh outer span designed to grip and hold tight, ensuring maximum comfort.
-
The Athlete Hip Belt
The Athlete Hip Belt is designed for lighter loads and includes a thick single-layer of foam with a soft outer span that makes for a more streamlined and minimalist look with incredible fit and comfort. The Athlete style hip belt is recommended for packs with lighter loads (under 25lbs). The design of the webbing on the Athlete belt angles up as it goes around your mid section and works well with layers like jeans, shorts and a belt for all day comfort.
-
The Traveler's Hip Belt
The Travel Hip Belt (also known as the Haenisch Hip Belt) has no padding, just a soft wrap with 38mm buckle and webbing. The Travel Hip Belt is available as an add on item and is not included with a pack. Available in gray (as shown) and black. Sizes S/M, M/L, XL with same
measurements as Athlete belts.

ALL ABOUT HIP BELTS
HIP BELT FAQ

How much are the hip belts?
A hip belt of your choice is included with the purchase of your pack. Choose either the Adventure or Athlete style. The names of the belts are the same as the packs but all belts can be used with all packs.
**please note, the cost of the hip belt will be zero'd out in your cart.
Which hip belt is best for me?
The Adventure Belt is my personal favorite, as it offers both functionality and durability. It's designed to handle heavy loads without compromising comfort.
With that said, I get the most use out of my the Traveler's belt, I rarely take it off my pack. It's great for daily use, quick trips and of course travel.
How do I know which size to get?
See the size chart below. To measure, start with your pants size. This technique is the simplest and effective 90% of the time.
If the measurement (in inches or cm) of your pants fall between sizes, opt for the larger size belt!
Can I measure with a tape measure?
Yes. To measure with a tape measure you need to calculate the the span between your hips.
Place the tape measure on the front of one hip bone and work the tape around your back until you get to the other hip. For the final calculation add two fingers to each side for the total >> Measure up!
The width of the padding should cover the distance between your hips plus 1.5in/4cm on both sides.
What if I'm between sizes on hip belts?
Size up!!!
Can I use the pack without the hip belt?
Yes and it's one of my favorite features of the pack. Been able to easily remove the hip belt for use around town or to save space / bulk is exactly what they are also designed to do.
Can the hip belt without the pack?
Yes! This is just one more reason to love Atlas Packs. A strip of MOLLE webbing is now included on our hip belts. MOLLE is a universally recognized method of attaching items to bags/packs/clothing and there are countless options readily available for whatever you need to carry.
By attaching MOLLE pouches you can hit the trail without anything on your back. How crazy is that for a backpack company!Â
***If you want to use your hip belt separately from your pack to carry camera gear around your hips, via the MOLLE webbing and third party attachments, a Magnetic Fidlock Buckle is MANDATORY.
The standard YKK buckle can be released via in-direct pressure and without the support of the pack, the hip belt would fall.
Available in black and gray and in two sizes, the large 38mm size fits all current hip belt styles (Athlete, Adventure and Travelers). The 25mm style fit an older style Athlete hip belt.
To be clear >> If you want to use the belt without the pack, the magnetic buckle is REQUIRED. Without the standard buckle the belt will release and fall to the ground (since it's not on the pack). Select the buckle size based on the width of your webbing (most best are 38mm).
How do I connect the hip belt to the pack?
This step is important. Hip belts are connected to the small pouches on the side of your pack. The 15mm webbing (the small skinny piece), needs to thread into the small buckle as shown in this image here. Be sure to pull tight and create a lot of tension.

Can I order more than 1 hip belt?
At this time you cannot purchase a second Athlete or Adventure style belt with your pack. Supply is limited, and the there is not enough of a difference between the two styles to justify the additional cost. My advice, get a Traveler's belt on the side, this will be a much better ROI.
**if you need a new Adventure or Athlete belt and are not purchasing a pack, please know stock and colorway is limited. Please contact Pro Support with any questions.
Find Your Fit
Both padding and webbing/straps get progressively larger as the hip belts go up in size. If you are between sizes, size up. Sizes for hip belts have been converted to pants sizes. Total length is also included so you know how long the belt is if measured with a traditional "linear" tape measure.
How to find the right size
-
Why a fitted hip belt?
Finding the right size is easy. Checkout the fitting chart and follow the steps. The most important measurement is to make sure the padding is long enough to cover your hips. If the padding falls short, then the weight of the pack will not properly transfer away from your shoulders and load on to your hips
-
Option 1: Pants Size
Choose hip belt size based on your pants size. This is the easiest way and works 95% of the time. If you are between sizes, then use the other options.
-
Option 2: Measure Hip Span
Measure the span of your hips, ust the length needed for the padding to cover both (end to end) plus a few smidges.
Still unsure >> Size up!
